One wedding gift, together

A simpler alternative to the traditional wedding gift list.

Don't want to choose dozens of individual presents?

Let your guests contribute towards one wedding gift instead.

Everyone can choose how much they'd like to give and leave a personal message. When you're ready, the full amount is provided as a John Lewis gift card, so you choose something you'll choose together, on your own terms.

Free to create. 100% goes into your gift.

One considered gift, made possible together.

For example

£25 from one guest.

£50 from another.

£100 from someone else.

It all comes together into something much more meaningful.

Guests contribute towards your wedding gift. When you're ready, the full amount is provided as a John Lewis gift card rather than a cash withdrawal.

How it works

3

Everyone contributes

Guests choose how much to give and can add a personal message.

4

Choose your gift afterwards

Questions

Good to know

Is it really free?
Yes. There's no fee to create your wedding gift list and no fee for your guests to contribute. 100% of the money your guests contribute goes towards your wedding gift. There are no set-up fees, contribution fees, tips or charges to unlock your collection. The one exception is set out in the GiftRound terms: if a collection is used for a cause, charity or campaign, or shared beyond a private group, it may be suspended and contributions returned less a 10% administration fee.
What do our guests need to do?
Share your wedding gift list link with your guests. They open it on their phone or computer, choose how much they'd like to contribute, add a personal message if they wish and pay securely online. They don't need to create a GiftRound account to contribute.
Do we need to choose products?
No. Instead of a traditional list of individual products, your guests contribute towards one shared wedding gift. That means you don't need to predict which plates, towels or toasters you'll still want by the time the wedding arrives.
What do we receive?
The full amount your guests contribute goes towards your wedding gift, which is provided as a John Lewis gift card through GiftRound's gift card process. After your list closes you have 6 months to claim your gift. As a general GiftRound FlexCard rule, gift cards are usually emailed within 24 hours of a valid request on a business day, or up to 48 hours at weekends and on public holidays. See the full GiftRound terms for details.
Who can we share the list with?
Your wedding gift list has its own link to share privately with your invited guests, friends and family, for example on your wedding website, in invitations, by email or in a WhatsApp group. It's designed for a private group, so please don't post it publicly. Guests can contribute from the UK, the Republic of Ireland and other countries supported by our payment provider, Ryft.
Who operates The Original Wedding Gift List?
The Original Wedding Gift List is operated by Gift Round Limited, the company behind GiftRound. GiftRound has been helping people collect together online since 2018 and provides the technology and payment journey behind The Original Wedding Gift List, which runs under the GiftRound terms. Gift Round Limited is registered in Scotland under company number SC515352.
Is our money secure?
Contributions are processed securely by Ryft Pay Ltd (trading as Ryft), GiftRound's payment service provider. Card details are handled by Ryft and are not stored by GiftRound.
Can guests leave us a message?
Yes. Guests can leave a personal message when they contribute, so your wedding gift list becomes a record of the messages as well as the contributions you receive.
Are there limits on contributions?
Each guest can contribute from £1 up to £250. A collection can hold up to £3,000 in total. If you expect to go beyond that, email support@giftround.co.uk before you start.
Can we withdraw the money as cash?
No. The Original Wedding Gift List does not offer cash withdrawal. This is part of how the service can remain simple and fee-free. Instead, the full amount collected is provided as a John Lewis gift card, so you can choose what you want afterwards.
When should we create our wedding gift list?
A list can accept contributions for up to 60 days from when it's created. You can set an earlier end date and extend it later, but not beyond 60 days. So it's best to create your list when you're ready to share it. Many couples do this when invitations go out or a few weeks before the wedding.
What if we don't need traditional wedding presents?
That's exactly what The Original Wedding Gift List is designed for. Instead of asking guests to choose individual household items, everyone can contribute towards one shared gift, giving you more flexibility and keeping things simple for your guests.
